Postgraduate- Organisational Psychology

Grade: 

Pursuing post-graduation in psychology helped me consolidate a deeper understanding of the field. I can now think like a psychologist. I have matured my critical thinking abilities, interviewing skills, academic writing and developed an analytical bent of mind.

 Some of my core learnings are-

Psychometrics- Designed a psychometric tool from scratch- ‘Perceived Women Career Barrier Scale’- an instrument to assess career barriers perceived by women. 

Qualitative Research- Learned how to deconstruct qualitative data to discover underlying patterns and causes behind social phenomena. Wrote a term paper on ‘Loneliness in Metropolises’ by analysing photographs of cities and paintings. 

Indian Psychology- Studying Indian psychology was a self-transformative experience. I explored the potential of Eastern philosophy- Vipassana, Vedanta, Buddhism, and Teachings by Indian Saints (Kabirdas, Meerabai) in promoting mental well-being. I wrote a thematic understanding of the impact of Vipassana on Tihar Jail Inmates, experienced the benefits of listening to Isha Upanishad chants and revelations and appreciated the use of Ragas healing ailments. 

Organisational Psychology- 

I specialised in organisational psychology- appreciating the nuances from indigenous perspectives. Some themes studied were Leadership, Interpersonal Process and Team Building

Power and Politics in Organization, Organizational Change and Development, Coaching and Mentoring at the Workplace, Human Resource Management, Negotiation and Bargaining Skills

Change Management– Applied models of change management to study the process of change management – change communication, implementation and force-field analysis. 

Leadership– Delved deeper into new age dynamics of virtual leadership, self-leadership, leadership in the Indian Context and Inter-cultural nuances of leadership

Self-Assessment-  Performed a self-SWOT analysis, values testing and personality mapping using psychometric tests- FIRO-B, MBTI and JOHARI Window

Undergraduate- Psychology and Human Resource Management 

I have explored diverse sub-disciplines of psychology and HRM. In addition to this, I studied emotional intelligence, critical thinking and stress management as electives.  Some of my core study outcomes were Term paper on religious cults (a study of the psychology of influence in the context of a case study of Osho Dhama and Jonestown, South America) Autoethnography on my leadership experience at Toastmasters Club as Club President.
